History 1961 - 2011

Our Patrons

Progressive development of Karsznice junction at the end of the 50’s required constant access to new workers and technical staff with the appropriate general and professional preparation.
The students from two classes of vocational school (with the profile of metal-worker), existing since September 1959 in Zduńska Wola, were transferred to Karsznice. There, they constituted the core of the new, independent school.

On 1st September 1961, Vocational School for PKP workers near the main locomotive-shed in Karsznice was established.

Theoretical studies were taking place in two buildings situated in Wojska Polskiego Street in Karsznice.

The school introduced the profile of rolling-stock repair metal-worker. In 1964, extra classes were added: rolling-stock electrician; in 1971: industrial traffic railway operator.

The first principal of the school, holding the office up to 1972, was Stanisław Śmieja, whereas the office of the manager of practical studies was held by Czesław Pryk.

From 1972 to 2002, mgr inż. Roman Czacherski held the office of the principal of the school.

In 1983, the school received its own, modern building. The following year, the building of the dormitory was started.

The Vocational School was given the names of Juliusz Sylla and Kazimierz Kałużewski, Karsznice heroes and railway men who fought in AK units, and were hanged for their conspiratorial activities.

In September 1983, Extramural Railway Technical College was started, being an affiliate of Railway Technical College in Bydgoszcz. However, in 1989, the school gave rise to its own Railway Technical College.

The regulation that gave rise to the institution, required the school to be administered by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The school began to educate electricity, mechanics, as well as railway traffic technicians.

In 1999, the well-equipped school building was overtaken by Zduńska Wola district. At this moment, the name of the school was changed into Zespół Szkół.

The school began to educate students who wanted to get a certificate in general secondary school studies.

In 2002, the principal’s duties were overtaken by mgr Agnieszka Jaśkiewicz, the current principal of the school.

The school included:

  • III General Secondary School

  • III Specialized Secondary School

  • III Technical College

  • III Supplementary Secondary School

From 1999 to 2003, two departments of Lodz Polytechnics: Mechanics and Biotechnology, had their non-resident centers in the school.

On 18th April, 2007, Zespół Szkół was given the names of Kazimierz Kałużewski and Juliusz Sylla, therefore relating to the tradition of the school connected with railway and local community.

Nowadays, the school offers General Secondary School with:

  • extended Geography and Information Technology

  • Military profile

  • Cosmetic profile

The school offers technicians’ degrees in the following profiles:

The school established partnership, and is now under the auspices of Higher School of Hotel Industry, Tourism and Gastronomy.
